Duration: 2.5 hoursHow it works
As a family team you solve puzzles together on our scavenger hunt aboard the CAP SAN DIEGO!
What is the scavenger hunt?
The scavenger hunt is a treasure hunt across the entire ship. Along the way you also use items that our game masters hand you on site. You will also need at least one mobile phone in your group.
Number of players
As a family you can play together with up to 7 people.
More things to do on board
After the scavenger hunt you can enjoy a picnic on the pool deck of the CAP SAN DIEGO. The pool deck is on the very top deck (if you see a real pool, you are in the right place – though swimming in it is unfortunately not allowed). There are plenty of tables and chairs around the pool, and you get a wonderful view of Hamburg harbour. The area is outdoors but covered, so it can be used from spring to autumn even in bad weather.
Duration
The scavenger hunt takes about 1.5 hours. You should plan another hour for the picnic. All in all, you will be aboard with us for around 2.5 hours.
Cost
The scavenger hunt costs €17 per person (incl. VAT). Using the pool deck for your picnic is free for you as our guests.
Escape Room

People
Duration: 4 hoursHow it works
As a family you play together in an escape room aboard the CAP SAN DIEGO (approx. 1 to 1.25 hours). Young and old solve puzzles side by side.
Suitable rooms
We actually designed all our escape rooms for adults, but some are also suitable for younger players:
For children from age 8, our escape rooms “The Master of Time” and “The Golden Skull” are suitable.
Teenagers from age 14 can also play the escape room “The Forbidden Game”.
Number of players
In one escape room you can play with up to 7 people. If there are more of you, simply book several escape rooms.
More things to do on board
In addition, you can explore the entire ship and the museum on board free of charge. You can also enjoy a picnic on the pool deck of the CAP SAN DIEGO. The pool deck is on the very top deck of the CAP SAN DIEGO (if you see a real pool, you are in the right place – though swimming in it is unfortunately not allowed). There are plenty of tables and chairs around the pool. The area is outdoors but covered, so it can be used from spring to autumn even in bad weather.
Duration
The escape room takes about 1 to 1.25 hours. Plan 1.5 hours for the tour and another hour for the picnic. All in all, you should expect to spend up to 4 hours aboard.
Cost
The escape room costs €35 per person with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 people per room (incl. VAT). The ship tour and use of the pool deck are free for our guests.
All our escape rooms on the CAP SAN DIEGO have the same difficulty level and are just as suitable for adults as for children and teenagers. So the different age recommendations have nothing to do with difficulty. The reason is a different one: “The Forbidden Game” is a spooky room where you get a proper scare now and then — which is why we recommend a minimum age of 14 there. “The Master of Time” and “The Golden Skull” are suitable from age 8. If you would rather move around the whole ship than solve puzzles in an escape room, book the scavenger hunt “The Forgotten Treasure” (from age 10).
You should not bring children up to 3 years old to play: all the rooms are very dark, there are loud sound effects, and you cannot carry a child the whole time during the game.
As a combined ticket together with the ship tour, the escape room costs €175 for 2 to 5 people, €210 for 6 people and €245 for 7 people. So a family of four pays €175 in total, which is €43.75 per person.
The scavenger hunt costs €17 per person. You can use the pool deck for your picnic free of charge.
In one escape room you play with up to 7 people, and the same goes for the scavenger hunt. If there are more of you, simply book several escape rooms side by side.
Yes. The combined ticket for the escape room includes a tour of the entire ship and the museum on board. The pool deck does not cost anything extra either.
For the escape room with tour and picnic, plan up to 4 hours — the room itself takes about 1 to 1.25 hours. For the scavenger hunt with picnic, around 2.5 hours is enough.

At least one mobile phone in the group. Everything else — maps, items and clues — you get on site from our game masters.
Yes! On the covered pool deck of the CAP SAN DIEGO you can picnic with food and drinks you bring along – from spring to autumn, even in bad weather. You do not need to let us know in advance if you want to use the pool deck, and you do not need to reserve it either. There is always enough room for everyone. Do not worry.
Please come aboard 10 minutes before your appointment. That leaves enough time to lock away your things and hear the introduction.
Yes. All escape rooms can also be played in English; so can the scavenger hunt on the Rickmer Rickmers, while the one on the CAP San Diego is only in German. You choose the language when booking, and it can still be changed on site.
